Gradall Forklift Parts - The Gradall excavator was the brainchild of two brothers Ray and Koop Ferwerda. The excavator was established In the 1940's all through WWII, when there was a shortage of labourers. Partners in a Cleveland, Irving construction company called Ferwerda-Werba-Ferwerda, the brothers faced a huge dilemma when so many men left the labor force and signed up in the military, depleting existing workers for the delicate finishing work and grading on highway projects. The Ferwerda brothers chose to make an equipment which would save their business by making the slope grading job easier, more efficient and less manual.
Their very first design prototype was a device with two beams set on a rotating platform that was affixed on top of a used truck. A telescopic cylinder moved the beams forward and backward that enabled the fixed blade at the end of the beams to push or pull dirt. Before long enhancing the very first design, the brothers made a triangular boom in order to add more strength. What's more, they added a tilt cylinder that let the boom rotate 45 degrees in either direction. A cylinder was positioned at the back of the boom, powering a long push rod to allow the machinery to be equipped with either a bucket or a blade attachment.
Gradall introduced in the year 1992, with the introduction of the new XL Series hydraulics, the most ground-breaking adjustment in their machinery since their invention. This new system of top-of-the-line hydraulics enabled the Gradall excavator to provide high productivity and comparable power to the more traditional excavators. The XL Series ended the initial Gradall equipment power drawn from low pressure hydraulics and gear pumps. These traditional systems effectively handled finishing work and grading but had a hard time competing for high productivity tasks.
The new XL Series Gradall excavators proved a significant increase in their digging and lifting ability. These versions were manufactured along with a piston pump, high-pressure hydraulics system which showed immense improvements in boom and bucket breakout forces. The XL Series hydraulics system was even developed with a load-sensing capability. Conventional excavators utilize an operator to choose a working-mode; where the Gradall system can automatically adjust the hydraulic power for the job at hand. This makes the operator's overall task easier and likewise conserves fuel simultaneously.
When the new XL Series hydraulics became available in the market, Gradall was thrust into the very competitive industrial machinery market which are meant to deal with pavement removal, excavating, demolition as well as different industrial work. The introduction of the new telescoping boom helped to further improve the excavator's marketability. The telescoping boom gives the excavator the ability to better position attachments and to work in low overhead areas.
